Wayne
Black began his training at the Won Park Institute of Taekwondo in August
1999 under Javier Sanchez. He entered his first tournament later that year
at the Fort Worth International Taekwondo Championships as an orange belt
where he won his first gold medal. Wayne realized quickly that Taekwondo
would play a big part in his life with weeknights spent in class and many
weekends at tournaments. Wayne began instructing in the spring of 2004 at
Won Park Institute primarily during mid-day classes eventually taking
responsibility for Saturday sparring class in the fall of 2005. In early
2006, Wayne chose Sanchez Taekwondo Institute as the location where he would
pursue his Taekwondo goals. Sanchez Taekwondo provides an opportunity for
Wayne to instruct, but also to further his Taekwondo education and
development.
Wayne is originally from a small town in Mississippi. He earned a bachelor's
degree in Mechanical engineering in 1995 and a master's degree in Mechanical
Engineering in 1997 from Mississippi State University. In the summer of
1997, Wayne moved to Fort Worth to pursue a career in the aerospace
industry.
